Yay! Thanks. It just seems really appropriate for a guy who's deathly afraid after having a wacky bad experience.

Got a question on deities... Does the deity you choose HAVE to be the same alignment you are? (Would expect yes, but I found the perfect deity for Velira....) Looking at an elf deity list, for backstory purposes, Velira was raised under Vandria Gilmadrith (LN: War, Guardianship, Justice, Vigilance, Law, Protection) due to the backstory when she rejected her family name, her elven kin, she also dropped this deity. SO far so good. However, NOW, I have her being Chaotic Neutral. But the deity that would be absolutely perfect is Sehanine Moonbow (CG: Knowledge, Travel, Dreams, Death, Moon, Stars, Night Sky....) Everything this godess stands for IS Velira, save for the Good vs Neutral. Or I can go with Fenmarel Mestarine (CN: Outcasts, Isolation, Travel, "The Lone Wolf") who could also work, but not as perfectly... Help!

No connection between your alignment and your deity's alignment is required unless you're a cleric, and then I typically use the "one step" rule, where you have to be one alignment step away from your deity.
Ex: If your deity is Neutral Good, you could be Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, or True Neutral; If your deity is Chaotic Evil, you could be Neutral Evil, Chaotic Neutral, or Chaotic Evil
There are exceptions, of course!

You can worship any god you want regardless of alignment, actually! The only time you have to match your god is if you're a Cleric or a Paladin. A Cleric could pretend to worship a god that isn't theirs, but they have to get their powers from somewhere. Same with Paladins!
So, for example, Fletcher is Lawful Evil, but he worships Pelor. Who you worship is really flavor more than anything. (It also adds some interesting dynamic if a cleric of Sehanine shows up, say, and refuses to heal the non-faithful!)
Edit: Ohhh, beat me.
