*After arriving from his jaunt to the potential mines, Avarice stops by Orebreakers foundry to inquire about the possibility of apprenticing with him.
"Smith, I was wondering if you have any knowledge on the techniques of Bael Turathi metalwork. I've been around it before, and I have this longsword that is from that era, but I have no firsthand knowledge of its manufacture. Would you be able to instruct me in the basics required to pursue this path? If it would assist the endeavor, I would be willing to let you inspect this weapon to see if you may glean any information from a finished product. It is quite possible that any techniques from Bael Turath would have been passed down through the ages under different labels, of course... most likely Nerathan."

"Hmm, I can't say as I've heard of these places you describe, young man, but the sword looks similar to some ancient blades I've handled that were discovered far to the south of here. That would have been," he looks thoughtful, "thirty or forty years ago, I believe. I could teach you the basics of blacksmithing, but my forge doesn't burn hot enough to make a piece like this."

If you'd be willing to introduce me to your art, I'll see what I can do about that forge of yours when the time comes, eh?
*Avarice makes himself available for tutelage whenever the Blacksmith is willing to instruct him.

Orebreaker grins, "Glad to hear it, my boy. Geist Orebreaker at your service and your family's. So the first thing you need to understand is..." He proceeds to explain the most basic techniques in blacksmithing.

*Avarice stops by the smithy after returning back to Sweetgrove.
"Smith? I need to speak with you regarding my apprenticeship. I appreciate you taking the time to begin instructing me, but I'm sorry to admit that I feel this skill is beyond me. I must recuse myself from your tutelage. Thank you for attempting to teach me the ways of your craft."

"I understand, young man, and don't begrudge ya the decision. Smithcraft isn't for everyone, I assure ya."
