Alice wants to see if she can find a path in and out of the city through the Undercity entrance in the apothecary cellar. She can't accomplish any of the steps I have in mind right away, but here they are, just so you know:
1) Be prepared to reseal the entrance before opening it: This probably requires a Wizard Lock or other warding spell, or some potent non-magic protection that still lets her come and go. She'll probably ask Kaine if he'd sell a Wizard Lock scroll first.
2) Open the entrance: She either needs some really strong people to move the crate covering the door, a potion to make her strong enough to move the crate, or a pickaxe or something to destroy the crate.
3) Navigate the Undercity: The best way would be to ask Fletcher how to get around, but he'd want to know what she's doing down there, so she might look for other unsavory people that might have a map. Otherwise, invisible in-person scouting would have to do, but she's busy making potions and scribing into her spellbook at the moment, so that would have to come later. The most convoluted plan would be to charm someone and get them to hire adventurers to scout the Undercity so she could find the info she needs without looking like she's the one who's looking for it.
4) Find an exit outside Sweetgrove that hasn't been sealed: We exited outside Sweetgrove in one adventure, but Fletcher told the Watch about that exit, so it's probably sealed now. She'd either need to unseal it or find a different exit.
It's pretty unlikely that any of the things she wants to do with such an entrance would ever come up, but they might include:
-Escape the city if she becomes wanted for some reason
-Escape the city if it's attacked
-Have secret meetings with criminals or monstrous humanoids not allowed in the city
-Smuggle illegal goods (or undead, if she ever gets animate dead) into the city.
She's not wanted yet, has no illegal friends, the city is not under attack, she has no illegal goods, and she can't animate zombies, so none of those matter right now, it's just the idea of it that's exciting.
