This isn't a complete list of everything in Sweetgrove, but it should cover everything an Adventurer would be interesting in.
Sweetgrove is surrounded by a stone wall, about 10 feet high, with a few towers that are 20 feet tall. Watch Guards patrol the wall and generally pass through the same section every 15 to 20 minutes. While there are a few older warehouses and homes built against the wall, it's generally forbidden since the Watch Guards can't inspect those wall sections for damage.
Main Gate
The main gate of Sweetgrove is in the center of the east side of the wall. It is flanked by two crenelated towers.
Postern Gate
Sweetgrove's postern gate is in the middle of the west wall. It is guarded by two militiamen day or night.
Traveler's Rest Inn
The Traveler's Rest Inn offers 5 private rooms at 1gp per night. Up to a dozen can sleep in the large common room for 1sp per night. Anyone staying at the Inn gets two meals a day. Private rooms also include a bath(if desired.) The rooms have two beds, a table, a bowl and pitcher of water, a lantern for light, and a small chest for possessions. The owner is named Donald and he runs the inn with the help of his wife Katherine.
McGinty's Tavern
When people need a place to relax, they come to McGinty's. This tavern has a large gathering room with many tables and a stage for performers. During the evening hours, many of the residents are here having a drink and talking about the day's events. The tavern is owned and operated by One-Arm McGinty. One-Arm is an ex-thief who lost his arm when he failed to disarm a trap in an ancient dungeon, now he runs the "Adventurer's Guild." He is always willing to share a rumor or bit of overheard information with any of his members. The bill of fare includes: ale, beer, wine, mead, bark tea, bread, pudding, soup, stew, roast fowl, hot pie, cheese, and seasonal fruit.
Fendrick's Fancy Foods(Restaurant)
If anyone is looking for a special meal, something they cannot find in a dungeon, then this is the place. Fendrick is the best cook for a hundred miles, and people from all over come here for his "chicken surprise." Most meals cost between 1 and 10 sp. Fendrick is the owner and chief cook of the restaurant, and employs an additional cook and a serving girl. He is a nice enough fellow, but is very strict about how is restaurant looks and how his food tastes. The assistant cook is named Boris, and the serving girl is Clara. The restaurant is closed after dinnertime and opens in time for lunch each day.
Stables
This large stables is the only place in Sweetgrove for someone to keep a horse. In addition to the stables, there is an exercise field behind the barn. An office and living quarters are attached to the stables. The stables are owned by Joben the Stable Master and his son Markus. It is well known that Joben will let friends and travelers who can't afford the inn sleep in their hayloft. Taking care of horses includes grooming, food and water, and exercise twice a day. The fee for stabling a horse, mule or donkey is 1sp per day.
Blacksmith
Orebreaker is the oldest person in Sweetgrove. Anyone coming close to his shop can hear the clanging of his hammer from sunrise to sunset. Although he can't make magical items, he can make swords or armor with special symbols or pictures on them by request. Fancy, custom jobs such as these will cost double the usual price. Orebreaker is a kind old dwarf and is friendly to anyone who appreciates his work. Because of his age, Orebreaker is looking for an apprentice to teach his skills. Although he is not going to die anytime soon, it takes many years of study to learn all their is to know about blacksmithing. Orebreaker is willing to teach if someone is willing to learn. The blacksmith is closed at night.
Leatherworker
Cordac makes leather armor, saddle bags, backpacks, sacks, and small jewelry items. He is middle-aged and lives here alone. In his youth, he used to travel the country selling his goods. He will happily show the characters his trade, and expresses his interest in buying any furs they happen to find. He is also a great storyteller, spinning great yarns about his trips across the lands. The leatherworker is closed at night.
General Store
Gart Stonenose is an ex-adventurer who is a grumpy stick in the mud. He lost his right eye while fighting a group of orcs and had to retire from adventuring. He is only friendly around dwarves. Horses purchased here can be picked up at the stables, complete with saddlebags and horse shoes. Weapons can be picked up from the Blacksmith's shop. Leather goods can be picked up from the Leatherworks shop. The general store is closed at night.
Library
The library is owned and operated by a scribe named Sethel. Sethel is a friendly man, especially to those seeking his knowledge. He will allow anyone to have access to his library, provided they follow three rules: 1) Be quiet, 2) No spellcasting or fire allowed, and 3) Leave your weapons at the door. A sign outside the building makes clear these three rules to all who enter. The library is closed at night.
Temple of Pelor
This temple is run by Thomas the Elder, a kind and gentle old man who has lived here for much of his life. Over the years, he has built a great temple and offers healing services to pay for its upkeep. The temple can offer curing for sick or injured player characters for the prices listed below:
Remove Curse 250 gp
Cure Disease 250 gp
Neutralize Poison 500 gp
Raise Dead 1,000 gp per character level or a permanent magic item
Like any good cleric, Thomas will refuse to heal those who are evil or false. Thomas will also allow travelers to rest at the temple if they have no other place to stay.
Bank
The bank is run by Foxworth the moneylender. He will give the characters coins for their gems. However, if the PCs wish to buy gems, the cost is twice the exchange rate. He will also exchange gold, silver, and copper coins. The bank will keep a person's wealth stored safely at no charge if it is left for at least one month, otherwise there is a 10% fee. Loans at an interest rate of 10% per month can be obtained for up to 5 gold pieces with no security deposit; over 5 gold pieces requires some item of at least twice the value of the loan as collateral. The bank is closed at night.
Guild House
When members of any guild(merchants, craft, artisans, etc.) travel to Sweetgrove, they are offered the hospitality of this two-story building. This is a fee collection and administrative post, and the staff is careful to observe what traffic passes through the town. Any trader who passes through must pay guild dues of 5% of the value of his merchandise, but he then gains the protection of the Guild House, assuming he is not a regular member. The Master, Pierre, frowns upon McGinty's Adventuring Guild and complains to anyone who will listen that they are not a true Guild at all.
Fountain Square
There is a large, gushing fountain in the center of the square. On holidays, local farmers and tradesmen set up small booths to sell their goods in this place.
Private Apartments
These special quarters are available for well-to-do families, rich merchants, and the like. There are four small apartments near the south wall that are occupied by families in Sweetgrove. Two larger apartments are separated from the rest, and while currently occupied, can be rented for 100 gp / month.
Large Apartment 1 - Trebbelos, Boy Magician (Will identify magic items for 1000gp or another permanent magic item)
Large Apartment 2 - Joachim the Bishop and his two silent acolytes.
Watch Guard Barracks
This group of fighters keep the peace. They enforce the laws of the Realm here. Do not kill, do not steal, and other common sense laws apply. Most infractions will involve time spent in the jail at the barracks. Captain Thran and the Watch Guards are dedicated soldiers, interested in protecting the city from all threats. The interior of the barracks consists of sleeping quarters for the guards, a jail for prisoners, and a small armory full of weapons.
Warehouses
Visiting merchants and other travelers who have large quantities of goods are required to keep their materials here until they are either sold to the people of Sweetgrove or taken elsewhere. All the doors are chained and padlocked and a Guard Captain must be called to gain entry. One building is boarded up with a sign over it that says, "No admittance by order of the Watch Guard"
Town Hall
Mayor McNell and occupies this building with a handful of clerks and scribes. Most of the time, she is kept very busy planning the future of Sweetgrove but occasionally, something serious will force her to intervene directly. Adjacent to these offices is a large meeting hall that can fit over 300 people and a small court room for holding trials. Sweetgrove is currently without a magistrate at the moment since the last one died in a goblin raid, but that is expected to be resolved shortly.
Wizard Hut
The hut of the wizard Kaine is a ramshackle structure with only one window built up against the south wall of Sweetgrove. Everything within the hut is a terrible mess and Kaine hasn't been seen in months. The hut has been looted of all interesting treasure... maybe.
Apothecary
Behind McGinty's is Alice's Apothecary shop. She sells potions, tinctures and such, and when she's not around, her assistant Pansy runs the place.
