Rumors fly about the recent success of three members of the so-called "Adventurer's Guild."
Old Winona: "Didja hear that some of those ruffians helped track down a flower for Creepy Kaine? 'Bout damn time those wastes of space did somethin' useful for a change!"
Pierre, Master of the Merchant's Guild: "They're not even a real Guild, you know?"
Ymir of Pholtus: "The one true God Pholtus guided my mace to victory! The leader of the hobgoblins was soft in the skull, if you catch my meaning."
"One Arm" McGinty: "I told ya, need a job done and they'll do it! Hey, would you like to join the Adventurer's Guild? Membership is free of charge and you get a free backpack!"

More rumors spread through Sweetgrove after six members of the "Adventurer's Guild" return with a bountiful treasure!
Elder Thomas of Pelor: "Pelor was truly with them in his hallowed house. Let that be a lesson to marauders who think about profaning Elward's Tomb in the future!"
Master Pierre: "It's good for business, since the caravans can come through unmolested once more. So long as those ruffians stay out of the city, I'll sleep happier... I wasn't talking about the marauders."
Sethel the Library Owner: "They got lucky, if you ask me. If they don't remember that my library is open from sunrise to sunset, they'll bite off more than they can chew, mark my words! Do you know how to identify a poisonous snake from a constrictor snake? I think not!"
Joachim the traveling Bishop: "I find all the members of the Adventuring Guild a delight, but these members are particularly interesting, I shall have to keep an eye upon them. Two eyes, perhaps."

Alice the "Potion Lady" was seen on the arm of Bishop Joachim, and they were later seen eating dinner together at Fendrick's Fancy Foods. Rumor has it that she's slipped the good priest some sort of love potion and he's now completely smitten with her.

Gart Stonenose, owner of the General Store, was rescued from kidnappers by a lanky human in dark brown who called himself Fletcher and a loudmouthed dwarf by the name of Dantalis.
Rumor has it that he was kidnapped by a fledgeling branch of the Iron Ring, a slaver organization.
In an incident that may be related, the sound of hammering against wood could be heard for the better part of an hour, in the warehouse district, on the night that Gart was rescued.

A bountiful shipment of wheat arrives in Sweetgrove from the Lamb & Lamprey, a roadside tavern to the west. The shipment is brought in by a druid named Bertrak, a guardswoman named Ilsa and a scribe named Dunkel.
Councilwoman Aleena greeted the bearers warmly, and rumors are abuzz over the way her gaze seemed to rest far too long upon the druid. A secret love affair, perhaps?
A man named Damien tells wild stories to anyone who will listen about the Iron Ring slave traders moving into the region and threatening good honest folk, and hags who bewitch men with magic wind chimes.
The townsfolk murmur fearfully in response to such tales, "Slavers and witches, what is Sweetgrove coming to these days?"

Crime is down in Sweetgrove despite the continuing lack of a magistrate of the Realm.
An unnatural three day winter has come and gone. Members of the Adventurer's Guild don't have to buy their own drinks for days.
River boat trade has resumed to the south. Rumor has it that even Pierre smiled when he heard the news.

(Oops, I've been ignoring this thread for too long!)
The townsfolk of Sweetgrove, having grown used to the peace, whisper uneasily to each other about the newly-arrived tiefling and ogre-kin.
A new magistrate has finally been chosen by the King and is traveling south to Sweetgrove. He or she shall arrive within two fortnights.
Sethel's library has reopened for business.
Caravans are less frequent of late and with the sleepiness of the past few months, Sweetgrove's economy has suffered. The Guild is getting desperate, and rumors fly that Guildmaster Pierre seeks someone to quiet the Giant threat on the Western Road.

Black Ryan the Shipmaster: "Damn! I've lost two boats in as many weeks, the river is a dangerous place these days."
Captain Thran of the Watch Guards: "For the last time, there is no Thieves Guild in Sweetgrove!"
Orebreaker the Blacksmith: "These old bones feel every strike of the hammer on the anvil more than they used to. With traffic to the town drying up, I may never find an apprentice after all..."
Joachim the Traveling Bishop: "I've heard that Pelor's miracles do not come cheap these days. I wonder why they'd value economic prosperity over the good of the townsfolk, hmm?"

Trebbelos the Boy Wizard tells anyone who will listen about his terrifying trip to a nearby ruined cistern that must have been used in Thaumarta of old.
The way he tells it, a monstrous snake-woman called a Lamia was slain and thousands of coins from the old Empire were brought back to Sweetgrove. A profitable trip, all told!

Many townsfolk share stories of how the fountain turned a dark red, the color of blood, in the middle of the night. Some are excited by this, others fearful. The fearful ones talk of omens and signs and bad luck to come.

Rumor has it that the giants to the west are running scared! One of their strongholds was assaulted by local adventurers and every being was slain within. The other hill and stone giants who dwelt near the western road have withdrawn further into the hills and mountains, freeing up travel on the road to Foundry City.
It is also said that the giants are now watching and waiting and will have their revenge someday. Some fear the Adventurer's Guild has brought ruination upon Sweetgrove for this act.

A dwarf named Zankas has sold 20 goblin ears in one load, not only beating the closest record by a substantial margin, but also proving a deep commitment to ridding Sweetgrove and its Farmsteads of the goblin menace.
Strange noises come from the apartment of Trebbelos the Boy Wizard around midnight for three days in a row, then the incident ceases, according to neighbors.

The feverish woman from the Inn appears to be completely cured of her sickness. She rides away from the city, heading west, on one of Bishop Joachim's steeds.
Evro the Mercenary: "Have you ever seen a plague? This town is much too small to survive one."
Reginald Tillingsdale: "That Bishop Joachim is a capital fellow. Most generous!"
Joachim the Traveling Bishop: "The Lady Eglantine was in dire need. I would do the same for any who needed as she did."
Guildmaster Pierre: "You would never see anyone in the so-called Adventurer's Guild doing such a kindness to a being in need. Nothing but death-dealing vagabonds, every one!"

The town rumor mill talks about a body found at the Docks along with evidence of a deadly fight. The dead man's name was Jacinth and he was a known associate of the tiefling Avarice.
Mayor McNell offers a modest sum(between 5 and 10 silver coins!) for anyone willing to help clean up around town in anticipation of the Magistrate's arrival.
