I have a pic that I tried to post, but it didn't work out... so all you got was the name. What were you doing to circumvent that with Myra?

Ah! For some reason, attachments aren't working, so I suggested uploading pics to a free photobucket account and using the tag.

oh, ok. I'll see if I get around to that... maybe tonight.
ON another note... you were talking about fame and such for the BHG before people would join... can we roll or something to determine if there have been any new members since the sack of hands got us in the papers, so to speak?

Well, now that Lokiin is leveled up a bit I think I'll promote her to Captain, so that she can run the BHG if I'm not around. Greedy Bitch lol

If you truly think that your NPC acting like a real person and not being forced to stay in your party like a video game character is being "greedy", you're probably going to have a hard time finding people willing to follow you.
Let me put it this way: have you watched Conan from 1980? When James Earl Jones solved the riddle of steel and countered with the riddle of flesh, he didn't do it overnight. He was the big bad of the entire film BECAUSE people were willing to die on command for him, and be enslaved. That's not really like, a standard thing that people will do for each other.
People don't just flock to us until we hit level 9. THEN we get to be (potentially) sadistic rulers.

I'm not sure that the "lol" after certain comments that I post on here is properly conveying the sarcasm/humor that I'm intending to attach to them. Let me try it again; No, of course she's not greedy! She's simply requesting a monthly salary 400% bigger than the prior months, after she made 19 1/2 times that previous monthly salary in one week... I'd say that's quite reasonable! LOL I don't think that expecting employees to continue to show up to work where they are being compensated significantly is treating them like video game slaves at all. It's because I consider their actions as those of real individuals that I disagree with parts of the mechanic in the first place. If it was a video game, I'd either like it and use it or not like it and forego it. Becuase this is a dynamic environment, I instead choose to address certain concerns so that I can either point out the flaws in their implementation or understand the flaws in my consideration of their implementation. You do bring up an interesting avenue to pursue, though. Maybe I could have Alice or Velira cast a spell of some sort so that I could magically enslave them... LOL All jokes aside, if I had a serious problem with the way the retainer mechanic was being implemented, I'd honestly just stop utilizing it and that would be that. It's not like the retainers are my line in the sand or anything.... merely my "I'm not currently tableside" focus right now. Also, Bonus points for the Conan reference... loved it!! I'm not sure Avarice has the Dex for a Snake Arrow, though...

Honestly, saying it was 'all a joke' afterwards with a lol doesn't change the fact that you have consistently called your retainers assholes and bitches for not doing exactly what you expected, and I don't buy that you're totally fine with it.
You are basically saying that people work for no raise, ever, and should be happy about it. That people never want to go do different jobs, or work for different bosses doing the same job. If that were true, I'd still be making 6$ an hour because that's what the math testing center paid me in college, and I'd still be working for the math testing center because even though I'm interested in working in education, I would feel obligated to stick with the first educational institution I worked at.
If you want your employees to stick with you, you pay them more. If you don't, you can try to pay them less, and they might just go work for someone else.
You keep acting like this is somehow unrealistic because to you, these NPCs should expect amounts of money comparable to the non-combatant NPCs who can live on a few silver pieces per year, or whatever; but henchmen NPCs live by PC standards of living, which means they want as much money as PCs do and have goals they're trying to accomplish like PCs do.
