I don;t remember the dates for this particular entry, but it is an important set of events nonetheless.
I was sitting in the tavern at Sweetgrove, just fiddling around with a spoon and looking at the menu when this strange woman walks in and talks to the bartender about any work to do.
He goes on about how the local traders coming in and going out of town have been being attacked by fish and lizard men, and how he recruits people for a local guild. He offers her a job while gesturing towards me and another man who was rather large with a big bushy mustache - god he looked funny - and offers us a job with her.
While I hesitantly accept, the bigger man suggests we may want to look into finding out more about the creatures at a Library. After we leave the tavern, they turn to me for ideas - probably to include me in their team (it felt good) - I decided we should brush up at the library. Once we got some Intel on what they looked like and what they ate, we made our way to a river where we could catch a ride on a boat to the monsters' lairs. As we were about to leave we decided to grab another guy we had met earlier who was raving on about his god of light and the one true god... BLAH. We figured he could help us out a little bit.
Anyways, we got to our destination - the first temple and things got strange... We found a potion that "made things larger" from a sip, and when I drank the whole thing, I shrank down to no more than a few inches tall. As a note to myself, it was for a good cause: just make sure you remember the duration of such potions for next time - I was small for more than an hour, and the point of shrinking was so I could fit through some bars and open them using the switch on the other side - the switch I could't reach anymore.... Woops!
Anyways, we found a few more passageways and a hidden trapdoor thanks to my shrunken size. The trapdoor led to a room with some zombies that the silly woman and the funny looking man dispatched of nicely. I hid on the light-man's shoulder so they didn't attack me, though they probably couldn't find me anyways. After they defeated the zombies, we looted some potions, books, scrolls and moved onto the next room which was house to a NECROMANCER. The paladin woman chased after him, and the two other gents followed her. Not wanting to lose him, and not wanting to get zapped I tried to charm him, and was able to keep him from attacking us all with a lightning bolt.
He immediately tried to make friends with me and even helped me regain my size with a scroll of dispelling. We got some information from him, and while I wanted to get him to go upstairs to fight against the fish-men, the paladin quickly was losing patients for him, and I decided it would be better to let her kill him than risk losing her as an ally.
As we were attacking him, I must have gotten hit cause I blacked out, and the next thing I knew I was in a bed with skulls all over it. The necromancer was dead, and we had found a few more potions. The silly fatter man and the paladin woman led me down to an altar they had found, and the fat man destroyed it. As he did he changed into a grotesque zombie-like man - due to a curse... The paladin woman and I noticed and the light-man tried to turn him, which freaked him out an caused him to flee... We didn't see him again for a while...
After thinking for a bit we decided the paladin woman and I would make our way through the fish-men above using some potions. I drank a small portion of a potion of invisibility, and she drank two potions, one that did nothing, and another than seemed to make her nearly invincible! She hacked and slashed the monsters, only fumbling her weapon once (I handed it back to her in awe) until only a few remained which all fled. She tried to chase them into the water, but must have decided to turn back because a few seconds later she resurfaced gasping for air.
Then, as if just to prove she wasn't truly that crazy or weird, she destroyed the altar and became a very rude, strange and evil man. He seemed to be the polar opposite of the paladin woman - yet another curse.
We ended up making our way down after the zombified fat man came up - he seemed pretty into himself all of a sudden - and he carried the crazy anti-paladins gear so s/he could swim further down. I hesitantly followed them and we found the last of the fish-men. They finished slaying them with poison and brute force, and then the fat one jumped down where they were to get some more information on where they could go.
He came back a few HOURS later with a slightly dazzled look on his face - he had found a large nightmarish monster and immediately came back since it wouldn't join his future empire - an invitation he extended to the man... not paladin... guy....
We finished exploring the area and decided to head back to town. I fed them a small lie about going in ahead of them "to spread the world of their marvelous arrival" and immediately booked it to a healers place so I could find someone who could remove the curses. I convinced the fat silly looking zombie by telling him we'd remove the small so he could spread his empire more easily. Convincing the evil paladin man was a lot harder. I told him we were going to give him the strength he had as s/he was killing the fish-men, only more permanently, but/she saw through it and started to run. We made chase and captured him and restored him to his/her rightful self. Then we went to sleep finally.
It was an interesting set of days, and I hope the future can provide an equal amount of entertainment - just without the high likelihood of being killed by my comrades.
