"First, let me preface my discovery by stating what brought about the circumstances of me finding it. I want to be completely honest with the Watch about what lead to this discovery, and to assure you of my motives of my action this morning.
I am unsure how much you know about the elven people, but we are both warriors and masters of the arcane arts. Swordplay and fighting techniques are quite easily learned and practiced, especially in rural places such as these. But arcane magic, is not so.. plentiful. Wizards, mages, and the like tend to keep more to the cities. Being relatively new to the village, I have been seeking to familiarize myself with some of the local arcanists.
I'm sure you have heard all the rumors surrounding the wizard Kaine's disappearance. Being a reported accomplished wizard, and also happening to be missing, well, the whole situation made me curious. And a curious elf does what we are born to do, snoop. And couple days ago, I went to his hut to see if I could find any clues to where he may have gone, or what may have happened to him.
The hut surpassed all the descriptions of how ramshackle it really was, and appeared to have been completely plundered of anything that may have been remotely valuable. I was about to resign myself to that mystery of the missing wizard was one I may never solve, when I saw the faintest outline of a hidden door.
I've discovered a secret trap door built into the flooring of the kitchen. Upon clearing off the refuse, I was able to open the door. Inside I found a musty cellar that looks to have been unused for sometime, at least as long as Kaine has been reported missing. Inside was several casks and a locked door leading to another room.
The locked door I was unable to open, as I had no supplies with me at that time. Of the casks, 3 were completely empty, and the 4th I assumed to be possibly wine or other spirits. As this is what most keep in such containers.
I left the hut to gather some supplies for the door. I also did not want to answer alot of questions of prying eyes, so I chose to wait until next morning to go back. I was delayed, and did not get to go back untill this morning.
One of the adventurers I have recently explored with, when I had told him of my findings in the hut, was also interested to see what clues I might find, and was to meet me there just before dawn. I arrived first, and wanting to occupy some time while waiting, decided to find out what was in the cask..."
Velira gives a shy grin, "Think how refreshing a nice rare wine would be."
"However, I was not prepared for what I actually found, and that brings me to the reason for this visit...."
Velira shifts uncomfortably. "In my past 3 years of traveling, I have seen many things. I'm sure as a watch guard you can also relate to that statement. But what I discovered in that cask..." Velira shakes her head, "That is something I hope never to discover again."
