Avarice goes first!
Avarice's feint is successful and he takes Evro in the knee for 5 points of damage. Evro's knocked off balance and misses with his swing.

Avarice taunts the man, waiting for him to regain his composure after taking the first strike.
"That's 1 to nil, my friend. Not a very good way to start. Are you sure you left your prior organization on your own terms, and that they didn't force you out for being incompetent?"
Once the man resumes his fighting stance, Avarice attacks again, feinting low and striking across the mans wrists.
((OOC: Feel free to use whatever "moves" a fighter has, the whole point of Avarice doing this isn't to win, but to guage the skill of this guy who will be, for all intents and purposes, the primary damage dealer if the shit hits the fan again.))

Avarice shakes his head, waiting for the ringing to die down. He masks the motion as if he's scolding the man for using the wrong attack.
"No, No, No, No.... I really don't think you're understanding me... if you're the man I'm counting on to lead the charge, you can't hit like such a bitch! I mean, what's next, are you going to tell me that you're afraid of the dark?"
Avarice resumes his fighting stance, this time casting darkness on him to test his ability to adapt to his circumstances. He needs to know the man won't implode under pressure.

Avarice conjures up the darkness on Evro, but before the spell is completed, Avarice takes the flat of Evro's blade in the stomach(5 damage) causing him to double over. ((Avarice is at 0, incapacitated, and he can't take any actions other than speak and slowly move for [dice=6] turns))
Evro is still holding his sword out and in a fighting stance, "Do you yield, sir?"[rand=7870366165094235913390298447788291771563192179057968397961961022]

Avarice takes a minute to regain his breath, and then stands up semi-straight, grinning.
"Well done. Well done indeed. Yes, I yield. You've exceeded my expectations."
Avarice sheathes his sword, walking towards the man and putting his arm around his shoulder to lead him back inside. "Let's have a drink and talk terms, my friend"
Avarice leads the group back to the table where they were previously sitting, ordering a round of drinks as he takes his seat.
"I must ask, where did you learn to fight? You've told me of your past affiliations, but obviously they didn't teach you how to handle yourself. Where do you originally hail from, and who instructed you?"

Evro sheaths his sword and takes a seat, adjusting his cloak to once more conceal the sword, "Same as anyone, I imagine. Mercenary work, here and there. I've trained with Brynhildr the Bloody before, but that was a long time ago."

"You must be a natural to have become so skilled despite lack of formal instruction... that's promising.'
Avarice stares into Evro's eyes, and makes his decision.
"I'd like for you to join my organization. By accepting my terms, you will be responsible for executing any and all directives that the Guildmaster issues without fail, though your rank will afford you the right to ask questions prior to execution should you feel the need. In the coming months, I'll expect you to improve your skills so as to be able to instruct recruits in your fighting style, should they require such instruction. Along with Lieutenant Lokiin, you'll oversee the operation of the Guild when the Guildmaster is away or otherwise indisposed. You'll also be expected to cease your affiliation with any other organization whose goals run perpendicular to ours, or in any way shape or form could result in the discrediting of the Guild or the tarnishing of it or it's member's reputation. Violations will be dealt with swiftly and succinctly.
For this commitment, I'm willing to pay (20GP/lvl) a month, plus (1/2) a share of anything we earn along the way. I'll cover armor and weapon care, upkeep and lodging. You'll hold the rank of Lieutenant within the Guild, junior only to myself in Guild Business. Said business may lead to unexpected winfalls for you in the future. Once you've accepted, we'll be free to discuss our current agenda and our plans for the future. Understand that, once you've been taken into confidence regarding Guild Business it's a really bad idea to betray that confidence. Also, as a member of the Guild's senior leadership you'll be entitled to a 5% cut of any revenue this Guild generates. This cut will be paid at your request, all that I ask is that if you don't have plans for it you allow the Guild to utilize it until the point that you do need it. I have BIG plans for this Guild, but we'll talk about those once you've made your decision."
Avarice sits back and takes a long pull off of his cigar, waiting for a response. "What say you?"

"The plunder share sounds fair, but I'm used to at least 50 gold coins a month for expenses, subject to change as I take on more of these responsibilities you're mentioning."

Avarice thinks for a minute or two, slowly smoking his cigar, before he answers.
"I'd say that, based on your performance, that 50 GP is a fair price for now. Lokiin vouches for you, and you've proven yourself to me insofar as that's possible without an actual battle."
Avarice extends his hand to seal the agreement.

Evro clasps Avarice's hand with a firm nod. "Sounds good."
