"Just as I was tellin' the good tales, McGinty started to speak up about me havin' another story under me belt... You see, lads, I kill the monsters that keep the pretty townsfolk awake, late into the wee hours, afraid to sleep, lest they be bitten and eaten. Now, here is just one tale of huntin', savin', and findin' new companions."
I take a large gulp of my ale. As watered-down as it is in Sweetgrove's tavern, I have no trouble drinking it all night long and I've got more than enough tales to ensure that I don't have to pay more often than not, "Now see here,”
I drink from my mug.
“McGinty was going to tell me of a new adventure, a new hunt, but then, hell itself opened and I heard a scream from the alleyway, behind the tavern. I almost thought, mayhap be a banshee, for you know they can kill with a shout.”
I take another gulp of my drink.
“But twas a fair dwarven maiden on her knees. My husband, my husband, she cried,”
I draw long and hard from my mug.
“Me and this human fellow asked her what happened, and she looked offhandedly at the man, but said forthright enough, he was stolen by slavers. Two human men took him down that way, and she pointed the way. We followed and came to a cellar door leading down under the old Apothecary's shop... Well, I won't bore you with uninteresting tidbits. Soon enough, we searched a bit and found where they went. As we hunted, we found a large cave room and some of those bedamned shrieking funguses, and as we were deciding what to do, he shouted, hey look out! Well, I jumped back, and sure enough, he'd saved me there. A piercer had dropped down on top of right where I had been, so I rushed it, and bashed it with my shield, and sent it right into the fungus. At that point, I pulled out a flask of oil and tossed it, 'cause while fungus burns well, I wanted to make sure, you know. We threw a torch, and ahh! A bonfire like never you seen! Well, we kept on and..."
After a long night of telling the story, I look down into my tankard, well into drunkeness, but not bad enough to have a hard hangover.
"Damn! I'm dry! Well, guess I'll have more later, hahaha!"
I stumble out into the cool night air and dunk my head into the watering trough. After sputtering a bit, I make my way to the Inn and get some space on the floor, lay out, and sleep with a smile. Now I had a fresh story, one that might well be continuing for some time to come...

Dantalis sat down at the bar and ordered a round, his usual flock of young men and women adventurars sidled over to see if he had a new tale. "hello again" he smiled at them and one of the prettier young women smiled back "i have a tale for you to hear about a dwarf a witch and a man" the lady sat nearest and so he focused the tale to her and then to the others listening near
"my Good Friend Fletcher came in to this tavern not so long ago looking for me and another he had met when he found us he told us of murder foul so we agreed to help straight away"
takes a pull of my ale
"after a while we heard tales of horrible nightmares and thought me and Fletcher about that lone Ziggurat we found as we talked about it we decided it was it had to be the problem at hand"
pauses to take another pull and to let the crowds tension build
"as we made our way down we were careful and sure so when we finaly got inside........."
the long night passes with a tale of the battle of the evil zombie king who wanted to raise his armies to rule once more and how we defeted them after a while i head back to the inn to get my rest for the evening i smile this new town wqas turning out rather interesting..............

Dantalis sits down at the bar and watches Cassie sit down in her usual spot. He lifts a mug toward her in friendliness as some people come up asking for tales. He smiles and takes a big drink, then looks at them all. "I'll tell you a tale about me and a clever young human girl. Actually, that one right over there." he shouts over to her raising his mug letting her know he is talking about her "heyla cassie" "so i was taking ser jones to quasqueton to make a map that didnt end too well as we all fell in damnably icy water but young cassie kept her head and helped me get the good ser out of there after all his paper and ink had been sadly ruined so we two marched it along on our own fighting kobolds and the like and kill a stry group of brigands who had come seeking blood and monies she was a gem in the fight and held her own with finding doors i missed im glad to say that while it wasnt the most amazing adventure i found a damn good companion for more haha"

the next evening with cassie taking a seat next to him he got them both an ale and leaned back against the bar with his usual crowd of listeners
"so you all want to hear about giants well this night that be the story i got me my friends fletcher and alice went into the west trade roads after telling good pierre that we would take the job against the giants out that way i called out to good cassie here and asked if she wished to join us she happily and gratefully to us as well did take us up on the offer"
takes a long pull of ale and smiles
"well when we got there fletcher checked it out and saw one guard posted so buy the cover of dark we moved close to the wall had our good friend cassie move the horses to the side and watch out for any stray giants coming our way or to get the animals out if needed we went in almost got caught by the guard then alice transformed it into a frog flether quick thinking launched it into the vally when it hit the ground the frog died but turned back into a dead giant whell after a little exploring we found where all the giants were now fletcher threw some millitary oil at the giant wooden door catching it aflame after a bit one came to check and we killed that one started down and killed another two then we got into a all out fight with the giants i had drank a potion of giant strength and was tossing sodding boulders into the room the biggest one came out with two cave bears and loosed them on us after tossing stones back and forth with the others watching he slipped up tossed a little light i caughtit tossed it back and crushed him then we cleaned up the last of them and got back alot of the trade goods and came on home"

As Dantalis sat down in the tavern, Cassie right beside him, they were chatting before. The usual group gathered around them both, but Cassie seemed distracted.
"Ello again, all. We got a story well suited, we saved many a person from the Iron Ring this adventure, and rightly so, for a more villainous band you'll never find. We had to rescue Damien the storyteller's husband Lucas, and so we went to the Dancing Dragon and..." He and Cassie tell the rest of the story through the night. As they wander off to the inn that evening, Dantalis smiles "You did a damn fine job, Cassie. I'm quite glad you're around. It'll help keep me straight, and as you can tell the monies are good with us, I do hope you stay around for quite some time."

As Dantalis helps fix the walls he tell the other workers of the goblin horde that Alice Fletcher and himself had fought and routed about a week outside of town he tells the tale as if they were heading right for sweetgrove and tells that the vampire lair was nothing but giant ants
"Aye this horde was two hundred strong goblins orks and hobgoblins all banded together so we looked to each other and knew they had ta die so I charged and started killing Fletcher came down and started fillen them with arrows like a right pin coushin Alice sped us up so the killin would go faster Damien and veleria were there and tossing fireballs from on high well after a good fight I and Fletcher were pretty wounded but we routed those bloody goblins then we went into that vampire lair and you know what we found........ants! Bleeding giant ants that was it place musta been cleaned out long time back" continues his work still chatting and laughing with the men....
