Dear Lord on the Rack, thank you for your omens and portents, they have guided me again to do your will. It would have been easier to hear some voice explaining in simple terms that I was supposed to help adventurers go kill goblins, but once I was in the right place, I understood what the vision of dark smoke and four points of light was supposed to mean.
"Through the gaping mouth, and its flying teeth, chase the fiery painting. An unending dream, a folded ladder, follow along the arms of the giant. Down the snake's coil to the Abyss."
I do know what pits are without the maw metaphor, and honestly calling the goblins' arrows teeth was a bit confusing right after the unrelated mouth imagery. I had never expected the painting would be a person with body art, but it was an unmistakable sign in retrospect. I can only assume the unending dream referred to the goblins put to death in their sleep. I wasn't expecting the giant part to be literal.
Next time I promise I will bring holy water if you mention "Abyss".
It was a tragedy that the goblin shaman had to be slain so, but I made certain to end his suffering quickly. Don't cry for him, Ilmater, he has found relief in the burning arms of his horrible abyssal patrons.
